I hear so many people asking “What should I give up for Lent?” but I never here anyone saying “What should I take up for Lent?”. Sure, giving up chocolate or crisps will help you lose weight. But what if you want your every decision to be based on God?
I’m still working on my whole new years resolution on being addicted on God. I have a post about that somewhere on my blog, if you’re curious.
It takes 6 week to create a habit. Lent? Around 6 weeks. The perfect time to create a habit of something.
Me? Oh i’m giving up social networking sites for Lent. They take up so much of my time, time that I could be using on God. What am I taking up for Lent? Reading the Bible every single day; I’m going to make time for God.
So I guess i’m suggesting to make a habit of God and do what I’m doing. Yeah it’s a few hours before Lent starts (UK time) and maybe you’ve read this a week into Lent already, doesn’t mean it’s too late to join me. I’ll be checking notifications, news and all for a minimum amount of time on Saturdays. It’s my first year giving up something so much of my daily life, next year I hope to go all the way.
That means you won’t get a post from me for a while, unless I’ve learnt something from God that i’m so desperate to share, until Saturday!
Have a beautiful easter.
